Hi! I have been having this problem and I have not been able to fix it yet.
The problem being is that Minecraft will launch in VR, then I will proceed to follow the instructions and press A in all the questions, after that minecraft VR closes and it just opens minecraft in desktop. Minecraft without account. Download minecraft java edition.
I have tried the fix that seems to work on most people where they go to the registry and change it to json 64 instead of steamvr, but it still didn't work on me.
And yes Vivecraft worked wonders but I really want to play on the windows 10 version since all my friends play in the windows 10 version of minecraft.
